Artist Statement
I have never called myself a perfectionist because all of my art is imperfect. I never use pencils in school, not even on tests. So my notebook is filled with smudged ink, crossed-out words, and asterisks indicating the areas that I wish I would’ve continued. Half of the pages are ripped out from when I would get bored in math class and teach myself origami. I have never called myself a perfectionist because I’ve never been afraid of imperfection.

What is the meaning behind your art? I have always hated this question because I never know how to answer it. If I were to take my thoughts, my experiences, and my feelings and put them into a single form, it would be my art. So to answer this question, I would have to understand who I am fully. And who really knows who they are?

My art consists of charcoal, oil paint, pens, pastels, and the occasional photo. My art is real as is the meaning behind it. I just haven't discovered what it is. Maybe I use art to discover more about myself, or maybe I will learn to be happy with not knowing who I am. I am an artist whose work is a mere result of her existence, and maybe I should be okay with my art being just that: Untitled.
